Fête de la Chanson 2: Confirmation

Bienvenue! We’re going north to Canada for the second edition of Fête de la Chanson. This edition’s rule is:

The artist singing your song must be from one of the 50 American states or 12 Canadian provinces. Territories are allowed and you’re free to pick any state or province.

The deadline to confirm is 20 September, so you have lots of time to find an artist and song. Confirm by commenting on this article or sending an email through the contact box on the about page. Some of the key dates for this edition are:

  • Confirmation/Song approval deadline: 20 September
  • Song release: 20 September
  • Late confirmation/submission deadline: 27 September
  • Voting deadline: 4 October
  • Results: 11 October (at the latest)

As players confirm, you’ll be added to this list. Please note that you cannot reveal your songs until the confirmation deadline has closed.

Possible Participants (You can take these states, but these people have an advanced claim to them, so if they want them, they’ll get them)

  • None

Until the 20th, happy state hunting!

EDIT: Just to clarify, don’t publicly announce your songs now but do send them to me at fetedelachanson@gmx.com so I can approve their eligibility! This seems to be a slightly confusing issue and if I can help you iron out problems now, it’ll make the contest go a lot smoother later. Thanks!

SECOND EDIT: People! If you are having trouble finding a song from a state, don’t forget that Canadian provinces are competing. So when your favorite American artist is stolen, just remember than the Great White North is totally open for any artist from there, bar Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia.

FINAL EDIT: The song premier is happening! Come over here (https://fetedelachanson.wordpress.com/2014/09/20/fete-de-la-chanson-2-the-songs-2/) for the fun!

    • …plus every single geographical region of USA, along with two Canadian provinces and a incorporated USA territory. The geographical distribution is great so far. We might need more Midwestern states, though.

  1. Btw, I discovered some great stuff from Alaska. I hope someone represents the Last Frontier! I would have done so, but I will stick to my first choice.
    Washington FTW! lol🙂

    • I have some great artists too. One from Ohio and one from Quebec/New York. I am trying to convince a friend to enter and chose one of the two🙂

      • Hi there, Rob! I’d love to but I’m afraid I need a break from this. I’ve already taken part in 4 online contests these last two months, which is kinda too much for me although I enjoyed every single one of those.

I wish you and everyone else taking part in FdlC 3 the best of luck!🙂

  2. JUST A SUGGESTION🙂

Since all delegates have send their entries already could we cut short the whole thing by a week🙂 You can still leave the registration period open until Sunday and then reveal the songs Monday morning or late Sunday. At the same time we can start voting and send you the results by the 27th/28th the latest. What do you think?

    • You’re very observant.😉 I know we could cut down on the whole thing by a week, but I’m giving myself that time to make the scoreboard because early October is going to be insanely busy for me. That date of the 11th for releasing the results is probably wrong and they’ll most likely come out sooner than that, but it’s just like a “just in case” thing. I do like the idea of debuting the songs on the 20th, though. And while submissions will still be accepted, revealing the songs on the 20th will unofficially extend the voting period, because the link won’t open until the 27th. It’d be nice to have it run faster, but I just want to make sure I have enough time to balance uni work, a social life, and the job of making a fantastic contest.🙂

    • I’m sure we will – I think we only voted for 6 countries last time because we could only vote for 11 others or something like that, doing normal points wasn’t gonna work out well as we’d be voting for nearly every country pretty much. Whereas we have at least 20 confirmed players for this one so it works out a lot better and makes it much more exciting!

  3. Nashville, TN is also known as Music City USA. In other words, the best music in the USA comes from there. So whomever represents Nashville by definition has the best entry.

My entry will easily reach the 100 point mark and win by a large margin. I have too many natural advantages in this contest. Best vocals, best composition, and certainly the best lyrics. I’m very confident.

Now watch me finish last. Lol
