Fête de la Chanson 3: Confirmation

Greetings! We’re going to the birthplace of America and Boston for the third installment of Fête de la Chanson! This edition’s rule is:

Your song must be a cover of a different song. For the purposes of this contest, a cover is a version of a song sung by a different artist. Remixes will be allowed, but only if the original singer is absent from the new track, or the song being remixed is a cover itself. You can pick any country in the world and normal artist eligibility rules still apply.

A few notes about this edition:

  • You have to take the country that the remix artist is eligible for. So, for example, Swedish House Mafia’s remix of Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” is only eligible for Sweden, not the United Kingdom.
  • Covers of Eurovision songs ARE allowed, but the above rules apply.
  • Mashups will not be allowed. Only one song can be covered.
  • Parodies will not be allowed, unless a reasonable amount of the parodied song remains in the the parody.
  • Songs that only sample other songs will not be allowed.

Here’s a provisional timeline for this edition:

  • Confirmation & song submission deadline: 18 October
  • Voting deadline: 1 November
  • Results: 1 November

As you can see, we’ve tried to simplify our calendar.😉 Anyway, confirm here or by sending an email to fetedelachanson@gmx.com. This list will be updated as people confirm.

  2. Guys, I hope you’ll bear with me if I’m a little slow at updating the site this week. I have a lot of work for uni to do, especially because I want to knock out stuff for next week so I can enjoy parents’ weekend. I hope you’ll all understand🙂

  3. After looking through some stuff, I had three choices of songs to pick.

One was from a country that had already been chosen, so I had to eliminate it.

After that, I had to choose between the other two songs. One was a cover of a Mexican Huapango song that was written in 1954 and first performed in 1965. The other was a cover a Ricky Martin song.

After a long deliberation, I made my choice. In a few days, we’ll all see which one it is.

  4. I was reluctant to play as Norway again, but I’m generally not a big fan of cover songs, and so ones that I genuinely like are hard to come by.

I won’t say which artist my entry is covering, as that would give things away, but I will say that they have been represented in this competition before…

  5. Gerry and Tim please! You haven’t been asked to write down a PhD thesis…if you can’t send a song just say it and withdraw…
