  1. Guitar, Rosalina, Danny, Brittany and Tim will most probably not vote. Avat, Niclas and Patrick might not do so as well given they skipped the semi they didn’t participate in. I have know idea what Kim is up to but given he was late in submitting a song and eventually not advancing to the final I don’t expecting him to vote. We are not even sure if any other non-qualifier will come back and vote – we haven’t heard anything from Alex L and Ivan, however, both voted in both SFs. So, in other words we might have 24 voters only (the qualifiers plus Ovidarch, Toggie and Oxi who openly stated they are planning to vote).

Therefore, given we ALL have already ranked all songs and because the voters will definitely be substantially less we could shorten the voting period. Perhaps until Saturday and then have the result on Sunday? RoW could also be scrapped as I see only three people forming part of it.

    Dino and the Goldfrapp team🙂

    • lol why shouldnt I vote?
Of course I’m not super happy that my song failed to qualify, but I’m not that kind of a sore loser.
I’ve said several times that I had some problems with my internet connection because I moved out last week, but now I see no reason why I shouldn’t vote.
You might want to consider that this kind of assumptions/speculations make you come across as condescending and pretty rude, tbh

      • Rosalina you SHOULD improve your Enghlish. I never stated you shouldn’t be voting (do you really know the meaning of should in English)? I just thought you might not vote the way you didn’ vote for example in the second semi. I was stating my opinion based on facts. Your last paragraph is frustrating and completely outside the spirit of this contest. You should apologise asap.

    • I do know what “should“ means.
I was actually asking “why did you assume I’m not gonna vote in the final?“.
Pretty much the whole thread is about those people who are not going to vote just because they did not qualify, so it’s hard to believe you genuinely think I will not vote in the final (and for the record I always planned to vote in the finals, because it is both compulsory and logic, since it is the main event after all) based on the fact that I skipped the second semifinal (which was facultative).

P.S The first two lines of your reply are exactly an exemple of what makes you sound so condescending.
Guess what, English isn’t everybody’s first language here, and I know I make several mistakes, but do you really need to be THAT unkind just to make your argument look more valid?

      • Have you been nice from first place? I doubt so…

From all the people I mentioned in that comment it is only you making a fuss going as far as labeling.

I just thought people might not come to vote in the final based on some facts. It is just a hypothesis – already 12 people skipped the semis so, the likelihood of skipping the final is still there – again IMO.

Better ask for a clarification rather than jumping to sweeping (and negative) generalizations.

  2. I have a question: Do eliminated HoDs HAVE TO vote in the final? I ask because someone (forgot who) has already indicated that they don’t intend to vote, having been eliminated in the semifinals. But, this kind of goes against the ESC model of having countries that didn’t qualify vote as well. What’s the official ruling on this?

My impression was that everyone had to vote in the final, regardless of whether or not they qualified. (Despite my complaints about my schedule, I had every intention of doing so whether I qualified or not.)

Add this to the list of rules that need to be clarified and laid out more clearly before the start of the next edition.😉

    • What do eliminated HoDs have to lose by not voting in Grand Final? They can’t be disqualified anyway…
I think EVERY SINGLE HoD had to be obliged to vote by rules from the beginning of this edition…which means having to vote in both semis AND Grand Final, or else they should be banned from next edition…I know it sounds harsh but that’s the way I would have handled it! I mean Nick gave people more than a few days to vote for a very specific reason…

      • If I failed to qualify,I would definetely vote in the final because the contest is not only about our songs or qualifications…
There are songs I like and I’d love to see them do well with the help of my votes

      • I fully agree with you but I wouldn’t calling for a ban at this moment of the competition. Especially, if people can’t handle such statements.

    • Ι won’t be voting for sure, even if it is mandatory..And if as Donnie said HoD’s who do not vote get banned from the next edition I could not care less since I am withdrawing for the next several editions anyway

      • ”I am withdrawing for the next several editions anyway”. is there anything you don’t like? You could always to ask for an improvement. Don’t let a single failure drown you down.

      • I don’t like the semi system and in general I am really pissed off since my competitive reflexes kicked in. I really put some effort in the nf – more than it may seem, from gathering songs to monitoring the voting and I was shocked by the result since many people who gave 12p in this entry participated in the semi as well, plus I stayed up till 5:30 AM just to vote in my semi because I did not have the time to do so during the day all these days.
I just lost interest and it will take quite some time to get back into all that sorry.

      • I can understand you. I was vocal till the last moment asking for the semis to be scrapped, not to mention the RoW method…

Also, people giving you 12pts in the NF doesn’t mean a lot. I experienced it in my own NF as well. They awarded it 12pts because they thought it was the best in a field of 4 songs…in a larger and more competitive field things might change dramatically. Did anyone stated the Austrian NF was brilliant?

        Liked by 1 person

      • Ι asked for feedback when the nf finished and certain people said it was certainly above average with many good songs.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter tbh the nf was a wrong choice obviously imo but apart from that it’s better to take a 3-4 edition break for me..

      • If they were from the first semi their vote has little effect as it is thrown in a general RoW. As for the rest they might have found better songs along the way, you never know. Austria could have been 11th , 12th. I can’t see it further down.

      • 2nd semi participants as I said.
It could have been but in a field of 17 that’s not what the song deserved imo or what I expected it to get, I am in real shock from yesterday.

Anyway, it’s pointless really, I don’t think anything said or even scrapping the semis will change my mind now, I feel kinda drained out

      • you generally send songs I like and this one was no exception so I think you should keep participating no matter what😊Not qualifying doesn’t mean you have a bad song since we know it already from ESC…with so many people having different taste in music,I think we should all expect to stay in the semi…..don’t take it personally, and enjoy the contest😊

      • That’s truly not the right spirit. I hope you reconsider… Every HoD should have a say in crowning the winner!

      • That’s your opinion and I respect it, I have mine and I expressed it.
I already e mailed Nick about my decision though.

Good luck and enjoy the final🙂 !

      • If you truly don’t have time to participate anymore I will respect it but if this is only anger talking, it is indeed a pity and I hope you reconsider. You have a great record in ETSC/FdlC and you should NOT give up by a single misfortune. F.e had you been quitting after FdLC 5 you would have never experienced winning in FdLC 6 or runner up in FDlC 7. It’s up to you. I don’t want to put any pressure on you plus no one of us benefits by continuing this conversation. A tout a l’heure :p

      • It’s a combination of both factors almost evenly although I have no anger just dissapointment in general and lack of will, enjoyment and motivation to continue participating at least for 3-4 editions, some months.
If the semis are scrapped entirely and I have a better time schedule I may consider to shorten my withdrawal period, we’ll see.

Indeed there is no benefit in this conversation, good luck again, I really like your entry in this edition !

    • According to the rules they don’t have to but they still can do so. I would like them to vote as I still consider them part of the edition. However, there voice should count individually, not just part of a general RoW.

      • This is standard procedure in online contests. Voting in your semi-final and the final is mandatory. Full stop. Since so many people expressed interest in voting in the other semi-final as well, I decided to allow you to do that, but I didn’t make it mandatory, so that people who were short on time or uninterested in the other semi-final wouldn’t be pushed into doing so.

      • The process of determining rules for semi-finals was a bit rocky, I’ll admit. This experience has been one that Patrick and I will build on to construct rules for the future. That being said, this rule is not subject to change.

        Liked by 2 people

      • I am not asking you to change that rule. Quite the contrary I do like it as I believe everyone should vote in the final. You started something then why not finish it🙂

      • ”If you do not vote, you will be banned!*”

Are you emailing ppl for this? It would be pity to lose ppl because thy didn’t know about this rule being in place.

  3. After the first full run-through of all the songs, there are 5 I really like, 5 I like, 7 I’m willing to give a second chance to, 1 that I’m quite unsure of, and 2 that I’ve eliminated entirely. Next phase would be reducing the possibilities to 13-16, then final phase is final ranking.

  4. Congratulations to the finalists.🙂

P.S. – I am very sorry not to see countries like Croatia, Armenia and Austria (especially these 3, but there are others) in the final. Thank you for all the songs.
