  1. Donnie’s HoD prediction – blind edition.

”Guinea : Is Dino. Let’s get over it…”

    Have you get over it? I haven’t. I don’t believe I have lost Seku…

  2. While my other comment from yesterday is still under review by Nick, I believe that the Top 10 will look something like this (based on people’s predicted “moves” and past results):
    1. Iran
    2. Canada
    3. Greece
    4. United Kingdom
    5. Norway
    6. Sweden
    7. Turkey
    8. USA
    9. Iceland
    10. Iraq

For this edition, I chose a song that I fell in love when i first heard it and I’m glad I did rather than focusing on obtaining a good result. I believe a handful of HoD’s will give points to Odett, but ultimately Hungary will end up somewhere between 20th-25th overall. Nevertheless, as long as everyone sends entries that they love on matter what the outcome, this contest will still be going strong. ❤

  3. I think I know what country Andy has been talking about when referring to it as avant-garde.

      • I think it is Cyprus. Had it was not my own entry I would have been more confident. The element he described strongly was the ”experimentation” and the Cypriot entry is experimental since it combines musical instruments from across the world. Japan is another experimental entry but based on his voting patterns and what he normally sends the ethnic/instrumental sounds are closer to his style.

      • Ah yes I didn’t realise until now! 😛 I believe that you’re right about Cyprus, the way in which the entry is executed and deemed as “ethnic/instrumental”. How do you think that Hungary rated your entry?

      • The Cypriot entry is similar to my ETSC5 Moroccan entry (though there are some strong differences) which you loved. It shares also similarities (the retro element) with the FdlC14 entry which you didn’t vote. The fact Cyprus is not doing well according to the predictions let me to believe you are not gonna give us any point :p

ha ha ha, what a discussion i’ve kicked off! lol usually i don’t give too precise hints regarding my voting. this time made an exeption. while waiting for the results i though that a discussion about ‘what can be considered avant-gard’ might be interesting. – as of my song choise music style-wise, actually the only ethic songs that i’ve entered here so far are this song from taiwan and the italian one in fldc 15. i do have an affinity to acoustic music but i also sent some electronic stuff such as my previous tw entry. i’ve joined fdlc in edition 8 which is a while back. i unforunately still have some difficulties with wordpress somehow, that is posting comments in the forum. that’s why i rarely ever post here anything. i’m sorry for that. 🙂

  4. I’ve managed to put all of your prediction data into my algorithm device and it looks like the overall FdlC 18 prediction stands like below for the moment :
1.Iran (Runaway winner! Two times the runner up’s points)

    • I should add that prediction stats fail most of the times, cause people tend to not predict high (or at all) entries they actuallly voted for in order not to give away much. For the reason above HoDs who didn’t get mentioned a lot in predictions’ top 10s should not really feel disheartened. Besides it’s more exciting if you do well against all odds compared to the opposite senario 🙂

    • Only one person mentioned Iraq. Cyprus was mentioned too once yet you have not even included it. How does your algo works?

    • I don’t think Sweden will be that high, neither Canada. Btw, Sweden wasn’t predicted in anyone’s individual votes!
Australia will probably be higher than 17th. But honestly apart from Iran who I don’t see missing the top 3 (and I could imagine it as runaway winner) the other countries are quite tricky to predict.

      • Personally I have Sweden at #6 prediction-wise. Many HoDs have predicted you in the final top 10, some even in the top 5 (David, Avat, Anders)

      • Yeah, I know, but when we predicted other people’s votes nobody mentioned Sweden, lol.

  5. For now, let’s put the results tomorrow at 18:00 CET. I didn’t plan to have to reveal the results, so there’s a slight chance that I will have to reschedule, but I have the results. I just need to put them in ScoreWiz and get everything ready.

Michos, did you send Nick an interval act?

  6. Some notes:
-I have decided the theme of the April edition. It will be revealed after the results.
-The votes have been put into ScoreWiz. Barring a potential drive that might change the time of the results, results WILL be tomorrow.
